TADS or miniplates are small titanium screws or plates developed for orthodontics. They assist in the movement of teeth in a more controlled and predictable way. The use of TADs has been revolutionary in the orthodontic field. They provide us the ability to accomplish orthodontic treatment that would otherwise require extensive surgery or long treatment times. Often we use TADs to decrease gum tissue display when smiling. TADS can be utilized to close teeth together that were previously not touching. They can also be used to save teeth that in the past would have been extracted or deemed "hopeless."
Both Drs. Miller have had extensive training in TAD placement and they use the only TAD system FDA approved for specific site placement. TADs are expanding the realm of orthodontic treatment and we are proud and excited to be at the forefront of this new technology.
Palatal TADs were used in this case to close an open bite.
