CBCT 3-Dimensional Imaging

CBCT IMPACTED

The new advances in dental X-rays are impressive— especially that of the newly developed 3-D volumetric scan we use call CBCT. In some patients, we prescribe this state-of-the-art tool to provide us with extremely precise diagnostic information that aids us in more accurate treatment planning. With CBCT, we can evaluate every aspect of the face and jaws with completely distortion-free images (unlike older 2-dimensional X-rays). Since it is three dimensional, we can move or rotate the X-ray, allowing Miller Orthodontics the ability to determine tooth position for more accurate diagnosis and more precise brace placement on your teeth so that you get the best result possible.

CBCT IMPACTED

CBCT imaging is also useful in assessing:

  • Impacted wisdom teeth
  • Shape and position of teeth, thus eliminating the need for and cost of impressions for molds of the teeth as study models
  • Position of unerupted teeth to aid in brace placement
  • Space in the jaw for implants
  • TMJ evaluation
  • Jaw pathology
  • Evaluation of the airway
  • Position of impacted cuspids

The standard of care is changing. Patients expect their health care professionals to learn about and apply the most recent advances as they develop in their profession to achieve the best possible result. We pride ourselves with staying on the forefront of new technology in orthodontics and applying these advances to their patients.

The iCAT Cone Bean 3D Dental Imaging System allows us the opportunity to provide quick, comfortable, and effective dental imaging for the most precise dental health diagnosis possible. iCAT technology provides 3D data for:

  • Dental implants
  • Wisdom Teeth extractions
  • Impactions
  • TMJ treatment
  • Airway assessments and sleep apnea
  • Full facial and jaw 3D images

Patients can take advantage of a more complete dental treatment with iCAT imaging. Special features for patients include:

  • One 20-second scan that provides enough data for a complete diagnosis.
  • A safer diagnosis with less radiation than traditional CT scanners.
  • Increased comfort - patients are seated in an open environment with plenty of space.
  • A more cost effective imaging system.
  • Doctors can easily share the data with patients, so that patients stay informed and are able to make educated decisions on their course of treatment.

Our office is pleased to have formed an alliance with 2 convenient oral and maxillofacial surgery practices that provide these imaging services when indicated. If you would benefit from these services we will gladly coordinate this appointment with the most convenient practice.
